There are many rules in the game of soccer. Some are easy to understand, and others are not. Like when a player is in a passive offside position, so it's not really offside...sounds complicated?.. want to find out more? If you'd like to learn, or would just like a copy as a reference, you can download them from the links below. There's a set of rules for each of the teams, by age group, that Barossa fields, as well as the rules for the assistant referee, or linesperson. Each set is formatted in MS Word®.

Parents can also help out the coaches by running the line at games.

THE BASICS OF A LINESPERSON'S ROLE.

* To assist/help the referee in making decisions during the course of the game 

* Understand the different rules that apply to the various age groups of teams 

* Know when a player is or isn't in an offside position 

* Keep an eye on play at all times. Referees will consult  the linesperson if they are unsure of anything 

* Assist when coaches make substitutions 

* Watch out for Foul  Throw - ins
